NEWS

Short Description:

Incoloy 825 is a nickel-iron-chromium-molybdenum alloy with good corrosion resistance to sulfuric and phosphoric acids and sea water. It is similar to alloy 800 but with improved resistance to aqueous corrosion.

Product Description

The nickel in alloy 825, combined with molybdenum and copper, has excellent resistance to reducing environments, such as those containing sulfuric and phosphoric acid. Molybdenum prevents pitting and crevice corrosion. The chromium content of the alloy makes it resistant to various oxidizing substances, such as nitric acid, nitrate and oxide salts. Incoloy 825 has excellent mechanical properties in the medium to high temperature range. Incoloy 825 has a thermal processing range of 1600 to 2150o F. The material has good weldability for all conventional processes.Typical applications are: phosphoric acid evaporators; pickling-tank heater, pickling hooks and equipment; chemical process equipment; tank trucks; propeller shafts, and spent nuclear fuel element recovery.Applications for alloy 825 are similar to those for INCOLOY alloy 020.

Incoloy 825 Characteristic

  •  Good resistance to stress-corrosion cracking
  • Satisfactory resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion
  • Good resistance to oxidizing and non-oxidizing hot acids
  • Good mechanical properties at both room and elevated temperatures, up to approximately 550°C
  • Approval for pressure vessels with wall temperatures up to 450°C

Incoloy 825 welding method

Incoloy 825 is suitable for any conventional welding process with the same material or other metal, such as tungsten inert gas welding, plasma arc welding, manual argon arc welding, metal inert gas welding, and molten inert gas welding, with pulsed arc welding being the preferred option. When manual argon arc welding is used, it is recommended to use protective gas mixed with various components (Ar+He+H2+CO2).

Incoloy 825 welds must be performed in an annealed state and cleaned with a stainless steel wire brush for stains, dust, and marks. When welding at the root of the weld, great care must be taken (Argon 99.99) to obtain the best quality of the root weld so that no oxide is produced in the weld after the root weld is finished. The color of the weld heat affected zone should be removed with a stainless steel brush when the weld area is not cooled.

The following filler metals are recommended for gas shielded welding processes
Metal electrode: W.N :2.4831; SG- NiCr21Mo9Nb; AWS A5.14: ERNiCrMo-3
Coated electrode:W.N r, 2.4621; EL- NiCr20Mo9Nb; AWS A5.11: ENiCrMo-3
